Egoriesk is ready to become a prospective economic center. Its main existing industries are: light and textile, machine-tool engineering and metal works, forestry and timber processing.

There are 16 large industrial firms in the district (5 of them are textile plants), 15 large agricultural firms, 186 small peasant farms, 16699 hobby farming patches. The main agricultural products are: wheat, rye, barley, oats, potatoes, milk, meat, eggs, turkey meat and fish. The district has a small business support program. There are cell phone facilities and internet providers in the area.

The 2000 budget of the district was 236 million roubles. 66 million roubles (28%) were in subsi-dies. 2000 economic report has shown 24% growth for the first six months of the year.
